Product Overview
The HRS500-8 is a dedicated HD recording and broadcasting appliance designed to capture, compose, encode, record, and stream visual content from a single 1U rack-mount chassis. It accepts up to eight 1080P video sources through 6× 3G-SDI, 1× HDMI and 1× VGA interfaces, together with two audio channels, and provides multiple composition layouts for lecture capture, live streaming and on-demand playback.
Built on an embedded industrial hardware platform, the HRS500-8 combines the performance of dedicated hardware with the flexibility of browser-based control. It records to a 2 TB internal drive in standard MP4/FLV formats, supports H.264 video and AAC audio encoding, and delivers content through HTTP/RTMP and RTSP/RTP. With fanless cooling, four RS-232 COM ports and a Gigabit LAN port, the unit is ideal for education, remote medicine, surveillance visualisation, government and defence applications.

System Solution
In a typical deployment, SDI cameras, an HDMI camera or lecturer PC and a VGA source feed the HRS500-8 through the eight physical inputs. Additional IP streams can be pulled in as RTSP/RTP. The built-in web director selects layouts, switches sources, and overlays subtitles or logos. The finished program is delivered through two HDMI outputs and one VGA output to classroom displays, streamed to remote learners over HTTP/RTMP or RTSP/RTP, and stored locally as MP4/FLV files. Operators can manage the system locally with a USB mouse/keyboard or over the LAN.
